PESA’s Cheetah DRS (Distributed Audio Routing System) is the revolutionary "next step" in the evolution of audio routing technology. Offering flexibility and scalability in a series of single rack unti frame. DRS audio router raises the bar for distributed routing systems to entirely new realms of possibility.

PESA’s DRS is an award-winning, innovative, full-featured 24 bit, 96 kHz audio routing system that supports Dolby-E and allows mixing of AES and Analog Sources as well as Synchronous and Asynchronous Audio Signals. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) functions available internal to the DRS support Gain Adjustment, Delay, L/R Summing, L/R Swapping and AES Pair Breakaway functions – just to name a few. The versatile DRS is scalable from a 64x64 router in a single rack unit up to 2048x2048 in only 36RU.

With the unique signal processing technology, complex and cumbersome wiring schemes and cable routing are no longer an issue. Input frames may be located close to the audio sources and the output frames may be located close to audio consoles, master control rooms and post-production facilities.

Due to its amazing distributed routing technology, audio signal sources and destinations can even be located between buildings. The signals are packed and carried on an Ethernet network using a minimal number of CAT5 network cables. Cable runs up to 100m to a DXE, which provides a virtual switching environment. Less complex wiring requirements and fewer cables keep signal quality high, while less time and money spent in both installation and maintenance.

Out-Door Broadcasting Application
With DRS, mobile TV trucks can be wired for audio more efficiently and effectively. All signals in A-unit can now be accessed by B-unit and vice-versa. This eliminates large numbers of audio cabling that have been used in the past to get signals back and forth, it also reduces the set-up complexity dramatically.

Each DRS frame can be a stand-alone device : internal power supply, cooling fans and control interface circuitry are all front-loadable and hot-swappable for the ultimate in serviceability. Full redundancy is available as an option for each of these components.
