HDcctv - When every detail matters

Image quality is one of the most important features of any high definition security system because superior image quality enables users to more closely follow details and changes, ensuring greater accuracy for automated analysis and alarm notifications. Traditional CCTV matrix switchers support analog formats at an NTSC/PAL low-quality resolution, which limits the image quality required for accurate image analysis. In contrast, HDcctv matrix switchers support digital formats at 720 and 1080 pixels, clearing the path for better and faster decisions to more effectively safeguard people and property. With image resolution close to 3x current analog CCTV, an HDcctv system provides more resolution for more details. PESA’s HDcctv V1.0 compliant matrix switcher makes it simple to connect practically any HDcctv camera to any HDcctv DVR. No matter your manufacturer preference, the HDcctv 16x16 ensures compatibility with either 720p or 1080p resolutions.

PESA HDcctv matrix switcher benefits
There is a huge existing analog-based matrix switcher market for NTSC/PAL, and a cost effective investment will be required by those who need to upgrade or migrate to an HD digital video solution. Many system integrators and users of commercial and government security systems are unclear regarding the fragmented standards and proprietary products currently flooding the security and surveillance market. For many of these users, early investments in CCTV matrix switchers will not provide the bandwidth or compatibility paths necessary to upgrade or expand to HD.

PESA and the HDcctv Alliance can bring clarity to operations that are considering a change-over to digital CCTV equipment.

Digital video transmission for CCTV systems is one of the most important issues for transitioning legacy analog security and surveillance systems to the most cost effective and robust system possible. PESA’s new HDcctv routing switcher addresses the issue of transmitting large numbers of HD video signals over a traditional coaxial infrastructure. As security and surveillance users start the migration to digital formats, HDcctv becomes the essential technology for a successful system design and installation process.

Resolution for perfect clarity
With a comprehensive line of HDcctv cameras and digital recorders available to produce true uncompressed HD signals at pixel resolutions for 720p and 1080p, an HDcctv compliant routing switcher insures the ability to share multiple sources without degrading image quality or worrying about signal latency. PESA’s HDcctv 16X16 is the world’s first fully compliant HDcctv routing switcher system for transmission of high definition video signals, and is a critical link in getting HDcctv images to viewing and storage devices. PESA’s HDcctv 16X16 provides input and output ports supporting bandwidth up to 1.5Gbps per port connection. With its compact 1RU size, PESA’s HDcctv 16X16 is big on performance – it supports the full line of HDcctv data rates for 720p and 1080p. All inputs are auto-equalized and all outputs are re-clocked to the appropriate transport stream up to 100m (300ft) over RG-6 coaxial cable.

Zero latency with uncompressed video – no artifacts
HDcctv is a digital video sequence that is based on uncompressed serial digital signal format made up of a series of full frames captured at up to 60 frames per second. The advantage of HDcctv is that each captured image in a video sequence can have the same guaranteed quality, making it perfect for frame-by-frame forensics. For full motion video, HDcctv video feeds travel over a point-to-point 1.5 Gbps path producing zero latency and no image distortion. As a result, there is no need to worry about frame dropping or motion time delays.

Use existing cabling for a simple upgrade to HD
An analog CCTV system upgrade to digital IP can be costly, since it requires changes to the existing cabling infrastructure. HDcctv provides the ability to integrate digital technology over a traditional RG-6 coaxial infrastructure, so you can save on installation costs by using your existing coax (RG/59 and RG/6) instead of replacing existing cable with a network infrastructure needed for an IP-based system.

HDcctv video cameras are point-to-point, so using coax cables to send the video feed directly to the matrix switcher offers the flexibility of sharing multiple cameras to multiple devices simultaneously. When multiple monitors, DVRs, and other recording devices are installed in the system, the matrix switcher can be configured to set camera feeds to specific locations.  This allows much more flexibility over traditional looping video outputs on the DVRs by letting every camera feed in the matrix switch to be utilized for transmission to other locations or secondary display devices.  Because every coax input and output port is full HD bandwidth, the video image will be transported as uncompressed, high-quality video without latency.

HDcctv makes the most of your system

Protecting existing CCTV investments

For the last few years, traditional video CCTV system designers have been waiting for the arrival of a digital solution to replace the analog matrix switch. PESA’s HDcctv 16x16 is the first digital matrix switcher that allows that technology shift.  However, the technology shift does not mean that all existing analog CCTV investments must be discarded. With PESA’s HDcctv product solutions, you can integrate NTSC/PAL cameras with numerous A/D converter options, allowing you to use analog and digital in the same matrix switcher.

Easy, future-proof integration

An HDcctv matrix switcher system allows you to utilize existing cabling and does not require the cost of a full network infrastructure for a digital security system upgrade. With PESA’s HDcctv matrix switcher, you can save on cabling, installation, and operational cost by reusing existing RG/6 or RG/59 cable. Also, since the backbone matrix technology for the HDcctv 16x16 matrix switcher is based on a 3Gbps backbone, you’ll be future-proofed for next generation megapixel cameras and DVRs.

Scalability and flexibility

With an HDcctv matrix switcher system, you don’t need a networking IT background to install the system. The system is based on simple point-to-point connectivity, so installation is identical to an analog CCTV system and no additional training is necessary.  Unlike an IP-based video system, there is no need to configure or program each camera or DVR – just plug it in and go.
